The Assistance We Can Provide to Physicians

  • When one of your patients requires some form of psychological assistance, we work with you to provide timely treatment for individuals, couples or relationships.
  • If it is your preference, we provide a consultation letter, with the patient’s consent, within the first three appointments to keep you aware of progress in treatment; we also contact you personally in unusual circumstances in which we feel it is important that you know of an urgent medical need or a situation with significant medical implications.
  • Our psychologists have strong expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for appropriate cases of anxiety, depression, or certain other disorders. In addition to individual psychotherapy or counselling, we provide couples therapy, family therapy, relationship counselling and adolescent treatment, all of which are areas that are difficult to access through community-based or OHIP-covered services.
  • Although most of our work in our practice involves provision of services to adults, couples, and young adults (16 years old and up), we also provide assessment and treatment for children 7 to 15 years old, including full psychoeducational assessments and the assessment and treatment of autism spectrum disorders.
  • We have expertise treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, couple counselling, workplace stress, relational difficulties, self-esteem, intimacy issues, emotional regulation, adolescent psychology, infertility, cancer treatment challenges, eating disorders, complex grieving, co-morbid disorders, abuse and more.
  • We provide evening and weekend appointment times so your patients should be seen within a week or two.
  • The cost of all or most of our services will be covered by your patients’ employment benefits or self-employment insurance benefits.
  • Most treatment can be carried out using a short-term therapy model allowing your patients to utilize their benefit coverage and incur very little out-of-pocket cost.
  • Occasionally, by providing psychoeducational materials and services, in as little as one to three sessions we can help create improvement or help solve specific problems.
  • We can provide input and/or assist you with necessary documentation for insurance disability claims, WSIB claims, and MVA claims.
  • Numerous studies show that depression, anxiety and several other disorders have significantly better outcomes with the combined use of psychological treatment and medication than with medication on its own; we are happy to work with you to ensure your patients recover and stay well using this full treatment plan.
